General Practitioners Need New Blood

As many as 1000 out of the total 2,200 general practitioners are soon to be in their seventies, while there are only very few doctors under thirty years old. “When an old doctor dies somewhere, tens or even hundreds of people stay without health care,” warns the President of the Association of Private Physicians Ladislav Pasztor.

Although the Ministry of Health already started an educational program aimed at motivating young people, Pasytor call for more comprehensive solution. According to him, there are more things that need to address apart from salary such as competencies of future general practitioners, their practice, as well as their necessary equipment.
