Negative Campaign Harmful for Both Slovakia and Poland

Poland and Slovakia are interested in improving food safety and consumer awareness in this field, Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Stanislaw Kalemba said at the agricultural fair Agrokomplex in Nitra on Thursday. According to Kalemba, Polish comestibles are safe and the negative food campaign damages mutual relations and isn't beneficial for anyone. Recently, there have been health warnings on Polish products involving an admixture of road salt that was sold as regular salt and rat poison appearing in candied wafers.

“The dynamics of food exports to Slovakia has decreased, but the amount of imported foodstuffs from Slovakia has also declined," said the Polish minister, emphasising that all the suspicions about food safety should first be proven and only then be released in the press. Polish is currently presiding over the Visegrad Four group, and its strategy is to realise greater co-operation in the agriculture and food industry.
